I had never been into fitness or working out until the day I hit rock bottom. I was depressed and super unhealthy weighing 210 lbs. It was at that time I knew I had to make a change in my lifestyle. I started at first just wanting to lose some weight but the moment I discovered martial arts, my mindset completely changed. Working with Edir has helped me open my mind into how far this journey can take you. Week after week he helps push me further in strength, conditioning, and technique. Edir has taught me that patience and dedication are the key components to progression in fitness/martial arts and that the journey is limitless. Covid lock downs affected us all in different ways and none of them easy. For me it was hitting an all-time high weight of 250lbs making it difficult for me to do the regular activities that I enjoy and even being denied access to others due to weight regulations.
Thus … time to make a change
While I appreciate CrossFit and other forms of exercise, I wanted to get back to my martial art roots and somewhere nearby that I couldn’t use distance as an excuse. Almost as if life knew who I needed at this time I was partnered with Sensei Edir for personal training.
Sensei Edir is not just a personal trainer, he is a Life Coach with a fitness problem. He lives the values taught through martial arts and brings them out in his students, achieving your fitness goals seems to be a byproduct of a strong mind and spirit. To be one of his students means to be a part of the “Belico” community and family.
My results are just one of many stories of people who have been impacted by Sensei Edir reaching my weightloss goal of 185 (-65lbs) in under 9 months. While we are both excited for the change Edir will be the first to tell you that numbers are just numbers and it’s about creating a lifestyle of health and happiness while letting go of the stresses you can’t control that makes the difference in your life.

When I started training with Edir, I weighed 254 (LBS) pounds. I wanted to make a change and start lifting, but I was such a beginner that I didn’t know one end of a dumbbell from the other, and I was worried I might hurt myself. I got him as a personal trainer not just for the discipline and accountability, but so that he could give me guidance on how to work out on my own, so I could pick his brain and learn proper form and how to perform exercises safely. Over seven months, I’ve lost over 92 (LBS) pounds. I’ve been told that I look like a completely different person. Obviously, a trainer can’t be there to make sure you eat clean or come in to the gym when you need to, but Edir’s guidance meant I used my gym time effectively, and that makes a difference. If you have a strong desire to make a change and a will of steel, the guidance he can give you is invaluable.

Before I started my training process with Edir I was at my all time heaviest weight, 190. Not only could you see the weight around my body but you could also see the lack of energy and nutrition in my face. I have tried many things on my own including running, gyms, other coaches and none of that worked. Edir Terrys approach is totally un parallel to any other method of weight loss that I have done. From the moment I was in contact with him he jotted down my current weight and made me sign a contract of a reasonable goal I wanted to achieved by a certain date. With my previous failures to loose weight I had my doubts however I still signed and proceeded. Edir Terry sat down with me and told me the do’s and don’ts of nutrition, exercise, and living a healthy lifestyle. What was the most beneficial was he actually held me ACCOUNTABLE. Edir would call me throughout the week and make sure I was doing an excellent Job. At the end of the week I would have my weekly weigh in and so help me god if I was not where I was supposed to be that day as I would defiantly pay for it in my next workout. Edir Terry did an excellent job training me and is an excellent coach. I recommend him to everyone and anyone.

When I first started my training with Edir, I couldn’t bench press more than 135 pounds and would be gasping for air half-way through our conditioning training sessions. Within 3 months I was able to power through the conditioning training that used to beat me down and still have energy to keep going, he always made sure I was doing all my exercises properly and if I wasn’t pushing myself to my limits he always make sure to quickly correct that. When I started training in MMA I was a skinny dude, and had no idea of what strength and conditioning was. Needless to say that this part of the sport is crucial to be successful, that’s when I started training with Edir. Through the strength and conditioning programs that he plans for his clients, I was able to get into fighting shape in no time, and the results are obvious! It doesn’t matter if you’re looking to get into fighting shape of lose that extra weight, if you follow his training and stay committed you’re bound to see results!

When I started training with Coach Edir, the first thing I noticed was that he wouldn’t ask anything of me during training he wouldn’t do himself. That’s integrity. This caused me to have faith in his instruction and advice. Under his guidance, I have lost an average of 20 pounds of fat and discovered a level of fitness I didn’t have since my early 20s.
